Mai 2003 ging es nach relativ kurzer Vorbereitungszeit endlich zum h\u00f6chsten Berg Nordamerikas. Die Besteigung des Mt. McKinleys, der sich als Berg Nummer vier in mein Seven Summits Projekt einf\u00fcgt, war als Solobesteigung angelegt. Wirklich allein ist man an diesem Berg jedoch nie. Mit dem Erreichen des Gipfels in den Abendstunden des 04. Juni 2003 fand die Expedition ein erfolgreiches Ende.<br \/><br \/><strong>Mit der Pulka durch Alaska<\/strong><br \/>In Anchorage angekommen, w\u00e4hlte ich Magriets &#8222;Earth&#8220; B&amp;B als Ausgangspunkt. Das Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck war lecker und das Haus gem\u00fctlich. Alles was man nicht aus Europa in die USA fliegen will oder darf, kann man in Anchorage noch einkaufen. Die Formalit\u00e4ten waren am gleichen Tag erledigt und der zweist\u00fcndige Transfer in den Mount McKinley Nationalpark von Magriet schnell organisiert. Am Nachmittag des n\u00e4chsten Tages flog mich ein Kleinflugzeug auf den SO-Ausl\u00e4ufer des Kahiltna Gletschers und ich campierte dort eine Nacht.<br \/>Schlitten und Schneeschuhe k\u00f6nnte man sich sogar ausleihen, wobei ich glaube, Ski sind am Mt. McKinley auf alle F\u00e4lle die bessere Wahl.<br \/><br \/>Am Vormittag marschierte ich dann mit 15 kg im Rucksack und einem 25 kg schweren Schlitten im Schlepp bis circa eine Stunde unterhalb des Lagers auf 11.000ft. Die Wetterbedingungen waren am darauf folgenden Morgen wirklich nicht optimal. Wegen Neuschnees und schlechter Sicht beschloss ich, einen Ruhetag einzulegen und ging erst in der Fr\u00fche des 02. Juni 2003 weiter. Im Lager auf 11.000ft. lie\u00df ich meine Schneeschuhe zur\u00fcck und stieg \u00fcber steilere aber unschwierige Passagen bis zum Nachmittag hinauf ins Medical Camp, auf 14.200ft.<br \/><br \/><strong>Solo zum Gipfel<\/strong><br \/>Im \u00fcbrigen spielt die Uhrzeit w\u00e4hrend der Sommermonate keine Rolle, denn es ist auch nachts so hell, dass man den gesamten Tag lang gefahrlos unterwegs ein kann. Einschr\u00e4nkungen bringen eher die Temperaturen, die nachts und am Morgen schon empfindlich unter minus 20\u00b0C liegen k\u00f6nnen.<br \/>Die K\u00e4lte war dann auch der Grund, warum ich nach einem weiteren Ruhetag zur Akklimatisation, erst am 04. Juni 2003 um 11.00 Uhr zum Gipfel aufbrach. Ohne Gep\u00e4ck f\u00fcr ein weiteres Hochlager, nur mit warmen Daunensachen im Rucksack, stieg ich bis 14.00 Uhr in das Lager auf 17.000ft. und weiter bis 19.00 Uhr auf den Gipfel. Das Wetter war phantastisch und klar aber windig. Bei immer noch strahlendem Sonnenschein w\u00e4hrend des Abstiegs, erreichte ich um 23.00 Uhr das Ausgangslager auf 14.200ft.<br \/><br \/><strong>Schlechtwettereinbruch<\/strong><br \/>In den beiden aufeinander folgenden N\u00e4chten schneite es bedeutende 50 bzw. 80 cm. Damit war die Hoffnung, eine weitere Route am McKinley zu klettern unter Neuschnee begraben. Die umliegenden Couloirs waren einfach zu stark durch Lawinen gef\u00e4hrdet. Zwei Tage habe ich noch gebraucht, um den Weg durch Spaltengewirr und Tiefschnee zur\u00fcck zur Air Base zu bahnen. Da die Piloten der lokalen Fluggesellschaft bis in den sp\u00e4ten Abend hinein starteten, konnte ich noch am selben Tag ausfliegen und damit bereits am 07. Juni 2003 wieder Talkeetna erreichen.<br \/><br \/>Das Wetter war ausgesprochen gut f\u00fcr einen schnellen Erfolg. Besser ist es jedoch mehr Zeit f\u00fcr die Bergbesteigung des Berges einzuplanen, denn Sch\u00f6nwetterperioden wechseln st\u00e4ndig mit Schlechtwetterphasen ab. Das n\u00f6tige Gl\u00fcck geh\u00f6rt eben dazu.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43663c8 e-flex
