data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"bodytext\">Der Chimborazo liegt in der Cordillera Occidental der Anden. Sein m\u00e4chtiger Gipfel \u00fcberragt das ihn umgebende Hochplateau um fast 2500m. Mit einer H\u00f6he von 6310m ist er der h\u00f6chste Berg Ecuadors. Aufgrund seiner N\u00e4he zum \u00c4quator und der Abplattung der Erde, ist der Gipfel des Chimborazo der am weitesten vom Erdmittelpunkt entfernte Ort auf unserem Planeten. Falls die H\u00f6he der Berge vom Ermittelpunkt aus bestimmt w\u00fcrde, gilt er sogar als h\u00f6chster Berg der Welt. So gemessen ist der Chimborazo 6384 Kilometer hoch.<br \/>Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist die Zentrifugalbeschleunigung, ausgel\u00f6st durch die Erdrotation, hier am gr\u00f6\u00dften. Man dreht sich nirgendwo auf der Erde schneller durch den unendlichen, eisigen Raum und ist dabei der Sonne am n\u00e4chsten.<br \/><br \/><b>Expedition<\/b><br \/>Wir reisten als F\u00fcnfer-Team am 21. August 2009 nach Ecuador. Die H\u00f6henlage der Hauptstadt Quito, mit 3000m recht immens, machte uns wenig zu schaffen. Bei unseren Akklimatisationstouren rund um die Stadt hatten wir extrem gutes Wetter. Wir sahen alle hohen Schneeberge Ecuadors und haben viele davon bestiegen. Immer bei sch\u00f6nstem Sonnenschein und mit Blick \u00fcber das Hochland der Anden.<br \/>Expeditionsziel und Kern unserer Tour war der Chimborazo, den wir nur sp\u00e4rlich akklimatisiert erreichten. Der Berg ist die herausragende Erhebung in der gleichnamigen Region und Teil der Allee der Vulkane. \u00dcber Ambato fuhren wir direkt in den Nationalpark und stiegen circa eine Stunde zur 5000m hoch gelegenen Whymper H\u00fctte auf. Im Licht der untergehenden Sonne konnten wir die meist genutzte Aufstiegsroute studieren. Diese ist nicht ganz ungef\u00e4hrlich, weil durch den Gletscherr\u00fcckgang von Eis- und Steinschlag bedroht. Deshalb entschieden wir uns f\u00fcr die Route der Erstbesteiger, die Whymper Route.<br \/><br \/><b>Eisige K\u00e4lte und der Sonne so nah<\/b><br \/>Aufbruch war sehr fr\u00fch in der Nacht. Gemeinsam stiegen wir die Vulkanh\u00e4nge hinauf, um auf einen Grat zu gelangen, der direkt zum Einstieg und dann durch die Westwand f\u00fchrte. Wir kletterten \u00fcber Vulkangestein, das oft nur auf dem Blankeis auflag.<br \/>Die Route zog sich durch Eisrinnen \u00fcber Spaltengel\u00e4nde nach Westen und f\u00fchrte direkt auf den kleineren der beiden schneebedeckten Gipfel. Die Freunde waren inzwischen leider umgekehrt.<br \/>Hier oben am Vorgipfel sp\u00fcrte ich, dass es auch am \u00c4quator bitter kalt sein kann. Meine feurige Begeisterung, bald auf dem Gipfel zu stehen, wurde vom eisigen Wind rasch abgek\u00fchlt. Erst die aufsteigende Sonne w\u00e4rmte mich wieder.<br \/>Ich erreichte gemeinsam mit unserem ecuadorianischen Begleiter den h\u00f6chsten Punkt und war so der Sonne am n\u00e4chsten! Am Hauptgipfel war vom ehemaligen Vulkankrater nichts mehr zu sehen. Der ist bereits v\u00f6llig erodiert und gilt als erloschen.<br \/>Die Route des Abstiegs war, wie bef\u00fcrchtet, ziemlich bedenklich. Trotzdem waren wir nach insgesamt neun Stunden wieder zur\u00fcck und verlie\u00dfen am n\u00e4chsten Tag den Park. Weitere Gipfel, im vielleicht abwechslungsreichsten Land der Erde, warteten auf uns.<br \/><br \/><b>Vulkanismus<\/b><br \/>Der ehemals starke und bis heute anhaltende Vulkanismus auf dem Kontinent resultiert aus dem Abtauchen einer pazifischen Platte, der Nazca-Platte, unter die s\u00fcdamerikanische Platte. Dabei kommt es zu starken Deformationen der Erdoberfl\u00e4che, die das Auffalten der Anden verursachen. In der Subduktionszone wird die abtauchende Platte aufgeschmolzen und durch aufsteigendes Magma starker Vulkanismus verursacht.<br \/><br \/><br \/><b>Gipfelbesteigung<\/b><br \/>Im Jahr 1880 gelang es einer britisch-italienischen Seilschaft, unter F\u00fchrung Edward Whympers, den Gipfel zu erklimmen. Einen ersten Besteigungsversuch allerdings riskierte bereits im Jahre 1802 der Forscher Alexander von Humboldt mit seinen Begleitern Aime Bonpland und Carlos Montufar. Obwohl Humboldt\u00a0offenbar beim Aufstieg an den Symptomen der H\u00f6henkrankheit litt, erreichte er mit seiner Mannschaft damals schon eine H\u00f6he von etwa 5600m.<br \/><br \/><b>Auf den Spuren Humboldts<\/b><br \/>Ber\u00fchmt wurde Humboldt durch seine beiden gro\u00dfen Forschungsreisen nach S\u00fcdamerika und sp\u00e4ter nach Asien. Sein schon beachtlicher Ruf als Wissenschaftler machte ihn danach weltbekannt. Allerdings brachte er w\u00e4hrend seiner Expeditionen und durch die sich anschlie\u00dfenden Publikationen in Europa, gro\u00dfe Teile seines stattlichen Verm\u00f6gens durch. Es war beispiellos, dass ein Privatier solche Forschungsreisen vollst\u00e4ndig aus eigenen Mitteln bestritt.<br \/>Zu Ehren des genialen Abenteurers, Entdeckers, Naturforschers und Weltreisenden Alexander von Humboldt war unsere Chimborazo Expedition zum 150. Todestag auf seinen Spuren unterwegs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43663c8 e-flex e-con-boxed
