Spitzbergen ist einer davon. Im Juni geht die<br>Sonne hier nicht mehr unter: 24 Stunden Licht, 24 Stunden M\u00f6glichkeiten. Die Temperaturen liegen knapp unter dem Gefrierpunkt, rau, aber berechenbar. Genau diese Mischung macht den Reiz aus. Eine Landschaft, die keine Kompromisse kennt, und Tage, die kein Ende haben.<br><br><b>Start mit Widrigkeiten<br><\/b>Die arktische Landschaft und ihre Isolation \u00fcbten eine besondere Anziehung auf mich aus. Mein<br>urspr\u00fcngliches Ziel war der 1713 Meter hohe Newtontoppen, abgelegen im Nordosten der<br>Inselgruppe.<br>Allein, auf Ski, mit Pulka, reduziert auf ein Minimum. Eine Tour, wie ich sie bereits in anderen<br>extremen Regionen unternommen hatte. Doch die Arktis folgt eigenen Regeln. Mit jeder<br>Planungsphase wurde deutlicher: zu wenig Schnee, zu gro\u00dfe Distanzen, zu hohe Kosten und vor<br>allem die st\u00e4ndige Pr\u00e4senz des Eisb\u00e4ren. Der Plan war so nicht durchf\u00fchrbar.<br><br>Aufgeben war dennoch keine Option. Vor einigen Jahren war ich bereits im ewigen Eis unterwegs, damals auf 80\u00b0 S\u00fcd. Warum also nicht 80\u00b0 Nord? Allerdings gibt es dort kein Festland, sondern nur ausgedehnte Eisfl\u00e4chen, die im Juni teilweise aufbrechen. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, war ich auf ein Expeditionsschiff und seine Crew angewiesen.<br><br><b>80\u00b0 Nord<br><\/b>Die Route f\u00fchrte von Longyearbyen aus rund um Spitzbergen und tief hinein in die Fjordlandschaften.<br>Berge, die aus der Ferne wie sanfte H\u00fcgel wirkten, forderten vor Ort jeden Schritt, jeder H\u00f6henmeter begann direkt am Strand.<br>Ich erklomm mir unbekannte H\u00f6henz\u00fcge, Berge und H\u00fcgel und erkundete m\u00e4chtige Gletscher.<br>Ich beobachtete Walrosskolonien und die beeindruckenden Brutfelsen der arktischen Vogelwelt.<br>Immer wieder zeigte sich in sicherer Entfernung ein Eisb\u00e4r \u2013 pr\u00e4sent, wachsam, Teil dieser<br>Landschaft. Auch Robben und Wale durchbrachen die Stille des Meeres.<br><br>Schlie\u00dflich f\u00fchrte die Reise durch die Hinlopenstra\u00dfe hinaus in den Arktischen Ozean, weiter<br>Richtung Nordpol. Das m\u00e4chtige Meereis verdichtete sich zu unpassierbarem Packeis und schob dem Schiff bei \u00fcber 81\u00b0 Nord einen nat\u00fcrlichen Riegel vor. Damit war das, zugegeben angepasste, Expeditionsziel erreicht.<\/p><p class=\"bodytext\"><br>Auf dem R\u00fcckweg konnte ich mit dem Seekajak den Isfjorden befahren und einmal mehr die Ruhe<br>und Weite der arktischen Landschaft in mich aufnehmen, um am 25.
